Our Doctors
Dr. Frank J. Bain, B.Sc., OD

Dr. Bain graduated in 1968 from Pacific University with Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees. He has been practicing with Optometrists’ Clinic in Edmonton and Leduc since his graduation. He enjoys providing general optometric care. He is an avid golfer and when not in the office he’s most likely on the golf course.

Dr. Troy Brady, B.Sc., OD

Dr. Brady graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1999 and has been practicing with the Optometrists' Clinic Inc. since graduation. He enjoys family practice and managing ocular disease. Away from work he spends time with his wife and two young daughters, as well as taking part in various sporting activities.

Dr. Ken E. Carlson, OD

Dr. Carlson graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1982 with a Doctor of Optometry degree, and has been practicing with the Optometrists’ Clinic since then. He enjoys general practice and has been privileged to provide optometric services in several developing countries.

Dr. Kim Collins, OD

Dr. Collins received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2006 from the University of Waterloo (Dean’s Honours List).  At that time, she was also honoured with The Award for Excellence in Patient Management for her exceptional patient care.  Dr. Collins has a special interest in children’s vision, having done much research on the subject at the School of Optometry.  She is also interested in ocular pathology, dry eye and glaucoma therapy and was privileged to study with Dr. Robert Wooldridge, director of the Eye Foundation of Utah.  In her spare time, Dr. Collins loves spending time with her husband and young son.  She also enjoys gardening, hiking, painting, music and volunteering for eye care missions to the Third World.

Dr. Benjamin L. Doz, B.Sc., OD

Dr Doz graduated from the Southern California College of Optometry in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees. He has been practicing in Edmonton since his graduation. He has a special interest in family practice, contact lenses, pediatrics and ocular diseases. He is an avid Rotarian and works in Central America on Rotary projects frequently.

Dr. Angela A. Endres, OD

Dr. Endres has been practicing at Capilano and Mayfield locations since graduating with honours from the University of Waterloo in 2000. She enjoys the variety of general practice but also has a special interest in fitting contact lenses and children's vision. Outside the office, Dr, Endres is enjoys spending time with her two young children and travelling.

Dr. Larry W. Gies, OD

Dr. Gies graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1972 and joined Optometrists' Clinic in 1977. He is married to Deborah, a retired nurse, and has two adult sons Matt and Kris. Larry has been involved in the Alberta Association of Optometrists for many years.

Dr. Brian Mah, B.Sc., OD

Dr. Mah is an Edmontonian who graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science and the University of Waterloo in 2007 with a Doctor of Optometry degree. Dr. Mah was involved with two publications at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton. He is a martial arts instructor and enjoys participating in city events like Heritage Days and Capital Ex Days. Dr. Mah is enthusiastic about his new career at the Optometrists' Clinic.

Dr. Shawn P. Rooney, OD

Dr. Rooney received his formal education at the College of Optometry in Toronto, Ontario. He graduated in 1962 with his class being the first in Canada to be granted the degree “Doctor of Optometry.” As the longest practicing member of the Optometrists’ Clinic, he maintains his lifelong interest in contact lenses and family practice. Dr. Rooney is past president of the Alberta Association of Optometrists and former council member of the Alberta College of Optometrists. He is a certified “car nut“ and when not in the office, can usually be found working on his antique and collector cars.

Dr. Stan S. Russo, OD

Dr. Russo graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2003 with a Doctor of Optometry degree. He has been practicing in Edmonton with the Optometrists’ Clinic ever since. He has special interests in family practice, contact lenses and pediatrics. Dr. Russo currently serves on Council for the Alberta College of Optometrists. He was born and raised in Edmonton, and when not in the office he enjoys spending much of his time with his wife and two sons, training for his half-marathon races, or as a volunteer with the Rotary Club.

Dr. Shane Smith, B.Sc., OD

Dr. Smith received a B.Sc. in Laboratory Medicine at the University of Alberta, and a Doctor of Optometry at Pacific University in Portland. His optometric interests in family practice include ocular disease. Dr. Smith was involved in research for a breast cancer antigen detection kit, and he also published and co-authored an article in the role of pathogenic yeast in humans. He loves golfing, fishing, camping and physical fitness. Dr. Smith is married and has a son.
